Abstract
Islamic Religious Education is a very important subject in building the character of students high schoo. However, PAI learning methods that are less interesting and not interactive often make students feel bored and difficult to understand the subject matter. One solution that can be done to make Islamic Religious Education learning more interesting and effective is to use YouTube's audio-visual media. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive research method, which involved grade 10 science 1 & 2 at SMA Negeri 8 Batang Hari as participants in the use of YouTube media in Islamic education learning. The results showed that the use of YouTube audio-visual media had a positive effect on Islamic education learning in senior high schools. Students who use YouTube media in Islamic Religious Education learning feel more enthusiastic and understand the subject matter more easily. Apart from that, YouTube media also helps students in developing their critical skills in understanding issues in Islamic Religious Education teachings. However, this research also shows that the use of YouTube audio-visual media must be done intelligently and measurably. Too much focus on the use of media can reduce students' attention to learning and lead to dependence on the media. In conclusion, the use of YouTube audio-visual media can help improve the quality of PAI learning in high school. However, the use of this media must be done intelligently and measuredly so that its effectiveness is not disturbed.
